From the Charlotte Observer:
Catawba Valley Community College will remain closed for the rest of the day after a possible gunman was reported on campus this morning, the college said today.
The college had previously announced that it was cancelling afternoon and evening classes today.
There were no immediate reports of any gunfire or injuries.
Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins told WCNC, the Observer’s news partner, that the lockdown was sparked after a CVCC employee reported seeing a person with a handgun around 9:25 a.m. in the parking lot of the college’s East Campus. No threat was made, but the employee reported the incident to a sheriff’s deputy.
