The Golden Globe Awards aired last night and amongst the sea of star celebrities were some familiar faces around the Queen City. Not normal folk, by any means, but the cast and crew of Charlotte-based Homeland were all dolled up and biting their nails to see if the beloved Showtime newcomer would be recognized by the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
And, boy were they!
The show took home two awards. One for Best Television Series – Drama and the other for Best Actress in a TV Drama.
Creators Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon took to the stage to thank virtually everyone involved in the making of “Homeland” after the Best Television Series winner was announced. Well, everyone except for the City of Charlotte. We know he was thinking it, though!
“I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to be standing here on behalf of all the talented people that helped to make this show,” Gansa said during his acceptance speech.
Danes took the stage after her win was announced and had one mission: to make up for her “My So Called Life” acceptance speech. She said back then, she forgot to thank her mom, and in order to write that wrong, she brought her mom as her date last night. Aww.
The Huffington Post posted this short video comparing the 1995 acceptance speech to last nights.
Wasn’t she just the cutest? She shouldn’t have been so hard on her 15-year-old self. But, aren’t we all?!
Congrats to the cast and crew of Homeland for their awards last night. We hope they know that Charlotte loves them win or lose, but that with filming for the second season starting up soon, they better not drop the ball during next year’s award season!
